Homs, the City of Black Rocks design is inspired by the city of Homs in the Levant country of Syria.

Homs is the owner's of Levant 2 Australia home city. He spent his early childhood in it until he was forced out Homs due to the Syrian War. Homs is a beautiful city with a lot of history and ever-expanding cultural influence on the Levant region. Homs has many landmarks including Qala'at al-Hosn (Krac des Chevaliers), Khalid ibn Al-Walid Mosque, Um al-Zennar Church, Qattinah Lake, Citadel of Homs, Great Mosque of al-Nuri, Al Atassi Mosque, Chruch of Saint Elian, Church of the Holy Belt, Homs old Clock Tower, and Homs New Clock Tower. Homs also is famous for its famous seven gates. The historical seven gates are: Bab al-Souq (Gate of the Market), Bab Tadmur (Gate of Palmyra), Bab al-Dirayb (or Bab al-Dayr), Bab al-Sebaa (Gate of the Lions), Bab al-Turkman (Gate of the Turkmen), Bab al-Masdoud (Closed Door), and Bab Hud (The Gate of the prophet Hud).

The Arabic calligraphy writing "حمص أم الحجارة السود" was translated into "Homs, the City of Black Rocks". Another translation is "Homs, the Mother of Black Stones".  Homs is famous for its volcanic black rocks and stones that are used for building many of the historical buildings mentioned earlier.

Arabic writing is usually viewed with suspicion and fear as many people associate it unjustifiably with terrorism. Thus, through showing the beauty of Arabic writing and Arabic calligraphy via printing it on hippie T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, tank tops, mugs, canvas, tote cotton bags, and mouse pads; we hope to change the perception of Arabic writing towards admiration and appreciation.
